Friendly staff, lovely pub, great food
The night before lock down, part 2!
We weren't sure what to expect, was the menu going to be limited and the bar running dry in an effort to reduce waste over lock down? A resounding No.
We go here half a dozen times a year, have never been disappointed and our latest visit did not disappoint.
Good selection of ales, lager and wine. Full menu on offer, we both had 3 courses and each was delicious.
So glad we choose here for our last dinner out before lock down.
Well done guys - a big thumbs up from us 👍
Situated in a lovely part of the Meon Valley this pub certainly lived up to expectations. C19 friendly, the ambience of the place was excellent. Service and the welcoming feel made it all the more better. Menu was a difficult choice as all dishes looked appetising and when served, superb. Great tasting local ales and looking forward to our return .
THE BEST ROAST EVER
Found the White Lion after seeing it on top 10 restaurants in Hampshire,
Well I can honestly say that everything from the food to staff to location was exceptional,
Set in a lovely setting the white lion didn’t disappoint, had booked on that morning for 4.30 & would say its advisable to do so at it was very busy, shown to our table & drinks order was taken & on our table within minutes, we both went for roast my other half she had a smaller portion meal & I had normal beef, well the smaller meal was more than ample & my beef well I can honestly say that it’s the best ever Sunday roast I have ever had in any pub,
Well done!!! No wonder you are so busy you have built up that reputation of serving good honest home cooked food,
All the staff had attention to detail & could not do enough for you,
Thank you for making our Sunday lunch an enjoyable afternoon,
Will be returning & recommending to all I know,
Perfect week day lunch with retired friends
An old favourite for us and well worth the 30 mins to get here. Open fire. Dog friendly. À la carte menu and baguettes (only lunch). Big garden in the summer. Nice friendly service.
We wanted to eat outside
We wanted to eat outside with friends as we’re still being careful and the church green opposite with tables well spaced out was perfect. Able to order & pay for food & drinks easily from website from our table outside , just include a table number and they were then brought out to us. So all totally none contact. We had Goan curry , burger . Sausage & onion Baguettes with chips all very good particularly the curry with lots of salmon and huge prawns. A great relaxed experience for nervous customers.
Couldn’t find a fault!
We come to celebrate with friends and family on Thursday evening.
We were simply looking for a country feel pub, this pub didn’t disappoint, ales with a great variety. Food was none better then delicious. Service was perfect. Attention to details that we really appreciated. Interaction with our young children, took really attention to our needs.
(Viki) could not of made us feel anymore Welcome. We will truly be back. We hope to now make this our new favourite pub.
Late lunch service
Walked the Soberton and Newtown Millenium Walk and chanced a late lunch sitting without a booking. Sadly we were informed they had stopped serving 15 minutes before we arrived.
The barkeep, off his own back, asked the kitchen what they could offer us, and they offered the full menu! Delicious burgers. Definitely returning soon.
Top quality food and service
Very enjoyable meal, good service and cannot fault at all. Made the last night of our short break in Soberton memorable
A Real Gem
We stayed along with some friends for two nights B&B in the converted stables in the pub grounds. Both rooms were of an excellent standard and we were given a friendly welcome. The breakfasts were top quality as was the service provided by all the friendly staff members. We had dinner on both evenings in the dining area of the pub which was also excellent. There is a very good beer garden to the rear of the pub itself and another to the left of the property. I wouldn't usually take time to provide feed back but this experience was so good it just had to be said.
Great food and service
Lacking atmosphere due to small number of tables and no drinking at the bar, however couldn’t really fault the food or service. I had the pie, a little lacking in flavour but nice pastry and fresh vegetables . Husband’s burger very enjoyable and tasty. Puddings of syrup sponge and pecan/maple tart, delicious! Service was friendly and efficient. A good evening meal. Would return, and although very local, would also like to stay!
